Now this is where I stumbled оnto problems. And not because the brownie was particularly hard to make.
Simply the dulce de leche is a bitch to find here in Bulgaria.
So after searching in many shops, and speaking to sales people who looked at me like I am speaking some alien language, I gave up and decided to make my own dulce de leche.
Many bloggers suggest you buy a can of condensed sweetened milk and boil it unopened for 4 hours. Now see… this seems to me like boiling something is very likely to explode.
So, I decided to put the condensed milk in a jar, and boil that for four hours. Well, surprise, it doesn’t sink in the water 😀 and you cannot boil it like that.
What I did was, open the jar and slowly cook the condensed milk over a pan filled with water for three hours until it turned caramely brown.
What else you need for the brownie:
250 g. of crystal sugar
333 g flour
250 g. of dark chocolate
250 g butter
4 table spoons of coco
300 g of dulce de leche
4 large eggs
How to make it:
Melt the chocolate together with the butter in a glass bowl over a pan full of water on the stove.
Once the mixture cools down a little bit, add the eggs one by one, mixing, mixing, mixing.
Start adding the dry ingredients. By the time you are done, you will have a pretty sticky, chocolaty goodness of a dough.
Put half of the dough in a pan, covered with baking sheet. Cover that goodness with 1/3 of the dulce and put the rest of the dough on top. Your final layer should be the rest of the dulce de leche.
Stick that in the oven heated up to 170 degrees celsius and bake for 40 minutes.
Enjoy! 🙂
